Travelling…

Holla!

Another blog entry, who would have thought that this would happen so fast…lol

I have been busy lately and here is a little recap of what happened.

Online: I continue to run horrible, but the last few sessions I at least can say that I was very happy with my play, just totally unlucky in the big pots. If I continue to play at such a high level, I see a lot of big wins in the future…

So whenever I play online I lose, that lead me to playing more live games.

I stopped by in Seefeld for 2 days, they had a new event there for cash game players only, and they were nice enough to wine and dine all their players and hook them up with free accomodation for the trip, so I thought the least I could do was check it out.

Everything was fine, only did I get bored playing 10handed poker and really didn´t enjoy playing at all, that is why I left after only 2 days. I won 10k so the trip was still ok, but I am not the kind of guy that can play a soft game without enjoying it, for the only purpose of making money. If poker stops being fun to me, it stops being worth it.

I went to Zurich afterwards to visit a friend for 1 day and then to Lucerne to visit another friend, who is studying there. We had a fun time and I want to thank him and his lovely roommates for that.

Since he is an aspiring poker pro we also went to play a little at the local Casino and it turned out to be a fun night. On the upside the casino had a very good restaurant where we had a good dinner and then played some 10-20NL, the only game they had at that time. We played about 2 hours and the downside of it was my friend losing about 1k while I managed to win 3,5k.

For everyone thinking about checking out the casino in lucerne, be aware that the rake is astronomical and the dealers horrible. But the players aren´t very good either so I believe you can still turn a nice profit.

Anyways, after a great weekend in Switzerland I went to Bregenz to compete in a Poker Nations Cup between Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.

We had a pretty strong team and managed to get a big lead in 7-card-stud, and manged to keep that lead throughout the PLO and the NL portions of the event. My personal result was very poor but I got saved by the team. We had a great lookout for the finals but ended up giving it away.

Italy won and I want to congratulate them. Forza Italia!

While in Bregenz, I also got the chance to play some Chinese Poker with Mr. Ruthenberg who in his usual fashion, won 62points in only 50 hands against me. I ended up losing some money on poker too but was lucky to break even for the trip thanks to a little blackjack session.

I went straight home from Bregenz because I didn´t really feel like playing Poker, where I spent a few days relaxing and catching up with some friends.

Now I am currently in Paris for 1 night to visit the European Poker Awards Gala at the Aviation Club the France.

I was nominated in the “Rookie of the year” category, but to be honest, I believed that annete_15 would just take down the whole show.

It turns out that Soren Kongsgaard won the award, and I am happy for him. I have played a little with him and he seems like a very nice guy, and he has some very good results in tournaments this year. Anette also got her prize for the “Best tournament performance” so I don´t need to feel too bad for her.

Congratulations also go out to fellow Austrian and another nice guy, Thomas Kremser for taking down the Lifetime Achievement award for his work on the other side of the table. I´ve played alot of tournaments under his control and he stands for comepetence and fair decisions.

Anyways, I didn´t really want to play after the ceremony, but somehow got dragged into a Limit Game that featured Holdem, Omaha 8/B, 2-7 triple draw and Badugi. Now I´m not a big fan of 2-7 and I had never played Badugi before, but I sat down anyway to play a little. They then took PLO to the mix and I stayed longer than I had planned. It was a very nice game with friendly people and lots of action and I managed to win 30k in about 3 hours. Certainly not a bad result for not wanting to play in the first place. Only downside was getting paid 25k in 50euro bills, but hey, I´ll survive.

Now it is pretty late and this entry is getting pretty long. I´m only in town for 1 night and am flying home tomorrow to spend a few days there until it is finally time to go to Australia again to play some Poker and relax. I have my brother and friends with me so it will be a great time. Can´t wait to go.

I will update from Sydney to let you know how I am doing in the APPT event.

thanks for reading-
